Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to pile up pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage places tidy. The reach truck is available in quite a few types: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The most basic kind is the stand-up. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This model has telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide beneath the pallet and grasp the sides as well. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This model is best in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Often more than one kind of reach truck is required inside warehouses. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities utilize different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and can increase productivity while making the most of available storage space.
