In 1966, Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries. During that time, he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift that functioned on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" which was used to lower and raise the hoist. This mechanism really impressed lots of clients and thus, the name was born.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into different new markets, as the need for platforms and work lifts grew. Over time, when the demand for new machines to meet many applications grew, the company made itself known in numerous new markets. For instance, Genie went into manufacturing light towers, man-lifts, articulated booms, telehandlers and stick booms.
Due to the economic slump in the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to secure a partner who held the same values. They partnered up with Terex Corporation. This company has a history acquiring equipment manufacturers throughout the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
In the first years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, because of the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Therefore, all Genie machinery continue to be sold under the Genie brand name.
The company takes great pride in listening and taking advise from their clients. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the quality and efficiency in addition to lessening wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on offering exceptional support. These are the very work disciplines which have made Genie a trusted brand over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality equipment.
Genie's Bi-Energy and DC machinery are emission-free, quiet machinery capable of working in delicate work settings. Where the machinery should be driven significant distances, like in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator together with the advantages of a 48V DC equipment.
Compared to any of the various types of aerial platforms, telescopic booms provide more horizontal reach overall. These machines are great for limited access places in construction and other industrial settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to offer utmost productivity. These machines provide the drive speed and supreme traction you need to be able to travel around the work site and job area.
